Khabib Denies Conor McGregor A Rematch

After witnessing Khabib Nurmagomedov submit Dustin Poirier in the third round of their fight at UFC 242 the MMA community has been quick to put forward their picks for who they believe may be able to solve the puzzle that is Khabib’s otherworldly grappling and pressure.

One name that has repeatedly appeared in the conversation is “Conor McGregor”, a previous opponent of Khabib. The fact that the pairs heated rivalry makes it a spectacle for fight fans paired with the statistic of McGregor being the only man in Khabib’s fighting career to have been able to take around from him on the scorecards this rematch doesn’t seem out of the realm of possibility.

As hard of an accomplishment it may be to stifle the unbreakable Khabib, many critics have made the case that McGregor is undeserving of a rematch since he has not won a fight since 2016. In addition to this many are in agreement that Khabib dominated Conor for a large majority of the fight.

Khabib has been quick to shut down the very idea of this fight and says the only way he’ll consider it is if the boisterous and proud McGregor “begs” for it.

Khabib vs Tony

Khabibs has been outspoken that he wants his next opponent to be Tony Ferguson who is currently on a 12 fight win streak. Fighters, analysts and fans are all in agreement that he is currently the top contender for the lightweight belt.

Khabib has also adamantly stated that he believes Tony Ferguson is currently the one most deserving of a shot at the lightweight belt.

This is one fight that has failed to actually happen due to freak accidents and medical emergencies for both fighters which at times has made this match-up seem “cursed”.

Despite this, there is still a high demand for the fight. That’s why we believe it would be foolish to not make ‘Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Tony Ferguson’ the next fight for the UFC’s lightweight title.
